    1. I start to have cravings for ROASTED PORK SHANK (golonka),
....last time I had this dish, it was probably in Greenpoit, NY, in one of many Polish restaurants we had there and back in the days when I was a single.....
...Wifes don't like to spend 4 hours on cooking of this MANLY feast for their men...:):)

    2. Golonka and beer were fantastic, Pierogi Grill is the best Polish Restaurant in St. Petersburg / Clearwater area if not in whole Tampa Bay .....

  2. One of the better Polish Restaurants outside of Chicago, New York and New Jersey, though, decoration is kind of strange...
What ancient Egypt has to do with Polish traditional food?
.... but trust me, close your eyes, forget about pharaohs and smell aroma of the food and you will be on your trip to Poland right there.
Pretend that you don't notice, that your servers are Russians and Czechs who don't speak Polish, but they are incredibly friendly, professional and deserve +20 % tips

  3. When I am driving by this place on Gulf to Bay around lunch time, quite often I see 1 or 2 taxicabs of United or Yellow in their parking lot, the cab drivers must be Polish........?

    1. If you see taxis parked for extended time in front of certain restaurants, that means that cab driver go there for breakfast, lunch and dinner, it also means that food in those restaurants is good and inexpensive.

Pierogi Grill in Clearwater is one of those restaurants.

My prefered place in St. Petersburg, FL is Kristina's Cafe with very good and inexpensive food.
I think, the place is run by Albanians and has large following among locals for high quality of food, good service and low prices, You need to try it.

  5. Other highly recommended place in Saint Pete for cab drivers on lunch break (IMO) is

    Astra Pizza
    2915 16th St N St Petersburg, FL 33704
    (727) 824-0709

You can call them in advance and ask for lunch special, 2 slices + can of soda for $5 to be picked up in 5 or 10 minutes, so you don't miss the time.

    1. Astra Pizza?
are you kidding me, this place is a rat hole, they charge arm and leg for delivery and their pizza is sour, thin and greasy. I think you going to be better off going to Toby's Original Little Italy Pizza on 49 st N, here is the address and phone number, but they don't make deliveries:

  6. Highly recommended Polish Deli (Polski Sklep) in Pinellas Park, FL, all products are "imported" directly from Chicago.
Kielbasy, Kiszka and Pierogies are best in whole Tampa Bay.
Owners and employees are friendly and cordial.

    1. That's correct, European Goodies Polish Deli in St Petersburg, closed down for good about 2 months ago, but still you can buy Polish food there, because old store was taken over by owner of the building and renamed Ela's Polish Deli or something like that.

    1. try Marko's Meats and Deli in Pinellas Park, they don't have too many Polish specialities but their Pastrami and NY strip steaks are incredible.
They also have reasonably priced lunch sandwiches, which are better and cheaper than those at Subway

    2. I Love Marko's pastrami lunch sandwiches and Hungarian salami too,
....also, Polish sweets are much cheaper than in any other Polish Deli / Polski Sklep in Pinellas County or Tampa Bay, - try Ptasie Mleczko, Chrusciki, Krowki, etc. they are great and half a price when you compare to other Polish Delis in the area
